Dal wada

Dal wada is very famous in different parts of south of India. They are easy to make and yummy.

Ingredients:
Bengal gram / channa dal:1 cup
Green chili: 4-5
Coriander: 1-2 table spoon chopped
Onion: 1 medium
Garlic: 1 clove crushed
Cumin powder:1 table spoon
Salt to taste

Preparation:
Wash and soak bengal gram dal for 2 hours in warm water.

After 2 hours make a coarse paste in the grinder. Add chili paste, garlic paste, salt to taste, cumin powder and mix well.

Peel and fine chop onions. Add to the mixture. Wash and clean coriander. Fine chop and add to the mixture.
If you are in hurry you can use this mixture straight away. For more flavour leave it for 4-5 hours. This will help all the spices mix well with channa dal. Your wadas will taste a lot better.

Heat the oil for frying. Once it is at frying temperature we are ready to fry the wadas.

Wet your hand and take a small scoop of mixture in the hand and using fingers make a small round and leave wada in the oil. Do it until frying pan is filled enough.
Fry it on medium temperature until they are golden yellowish. Take it out on cooking tissue to absorb extra oil.
Serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice. Tamarind chutney, coconut chutney, coriander and mint chutney will go well.
