You can make this with sprouted or un sprouted mung.
Ingredients:
Mung whole: 1 cup
Water
Onion: 1 small
Tomato: 1 medium
Green chili: 2 -3
red chili powder: 1 tbs
Salt to taste
Turmeric: 1/2 tbs
Ginger paste or chopped: 1 tbs
Oil: few drops
Coriander for garnish
Preparation:
Soak mung in boiling water for 4 hours. Pressure cook it for 2 pressures by adding few drops of oil, turmeric and salt to taste. Oil drops will help cooking mung better.
If you are using sprouted mung, boil it without pressure cooker on gas till they are soft. While cooking sprouted mung add turmeric and salt. Check "sprouted mung" recipe to see how to sprout mung in my blog.
Drain off the mung water. Do not throw the water. This water is highly nutrient. You can simply drink it hot or cold. This water has lot of medicinal value and is given to ill people. This believe to give them instant energy.
Peel and fine chop onions. Wash and fine chop tomatoes. Fine chop green chilies. Fine chop coriander.
In mixing bowl. Add onions, tomatoes, green chili, ginger paste, red chili powder and salt to taste.
Now add mung. Mix well. Garnish with coriander.
Enjoy hot or cold. I love this recipe for my lunchbox.
